R4 and Macy Gray (named for her raspy voice and her color) arrived together and stayed together. At first, Macy Gray was nervous staying inside overnight, but when her beloved R4 called her from the ceiling, she sprinted to his side. Their spay/neuter procedures were no more than a separation to be endured and their ardor remains undiminished.
Macy Gray hurls herself at R4, butting his chest until he begins to lick between her ears. She flops on her side and does a giraffe neck. If he doesn't respond, she grabs him with both front paws and clamps down on his ruff or nips at his cheek tufts.

After they've played, and play-fought, and played some more, and groomed, they collapse in some favored spot and curl together in sleep, spoon-style.

Once Macy Gray dashed into the kitchen and heard another cat walking “up top” (we're in a decade-long renovation). Instantly she was in the ceiling with a scandalized cat she'd never seen before. Three hours later, she finally conceded R4 wasn't there and came down (one hour after we set up the ladder).
